Error: Your Memory is Empty is a group exhibition held in 2021 in Gallery Vinci, by three artists, Newmoon, Jeein Kim, and Sungmin Hong.
The exhibition is about how individuals deal with personal memories both emotionally and physically.
I created three different 3D scenes and projected them on the walls using projectors. I've designed the space using white petals, silver sprayed branches, and white satin cloths. The fallen petals represent how we humans want to overcome negative and traumatic memories. The silver tree branch represents how cold it is for us as we survive through negative experiences and memories. The white satin cloth installed in the shape of a wing represents our aspiration to overcome those memories and finally become free.
I was inspired by a Greek Mythology of Icarus who flew too close to the sun and Pandora's Box. After my loved ones passed away, I was dealing with lots of emotions such as grief, which became a traumatic experience for me. Just as Icarus creates a wax-covered wing, I wanted to become free from those memories but I always failed. Pandora's Box is known as a box filled with devastation and despair but there was one thing that was left inside a box, which was hope. If we keep running away from those memories, we won't be able to find hope that is left inside a box. Thus, I decided to confront those memories and keep the loved ones in my heart by creating these artworks and finally became free.
I participated in the exhibition as a 3D artist, spatial designer, curator, docent, concept artist, and also created a trailer video for the exhibition.
